# Number of shards cannot be increased

Hey! I can’t seems to increase number of shards (from your docs)

Support for changing the `number_of_shards` was introduced by CrateDB version 3.2.0, see [https://crate.io/docs/crate/reference/en/latest/appendices/release-notes/3.2.0.html](https://crate.io/docs/crate/reference/en/latest/appendices/release-notes/3.2.0.html).
